diatom algae bloom

does anyone know how diatoms grow and how to get rid of them. my live rock is covered in it. brown rusty color doesnt look good.

dying snails and crabs

i used a 1" pvc. my overflow box has 2 drains...

i used a 1" pvc. my overflow box has 2 drains and would not fit durso standpipe, so i used stockman. works fine
