i have a 90 gal tank with mh and cf lights i am in the process or adding a hood over the tank...my question what is the max distance I can put the lights above the tank? they are at about 4inches...

i have the 2x250 the fans ARE on the top...there...
i have the 2x250 the fans ARE on the top...there are vents on the sides but they are more for the cf lights.
are you putting it under a canopy?

90 gal tank 20 gal sump, mag 12 for my return...
90 gal tank 20 gal sump, mag 12 for my return pump and 2 seio 1100 for water movement
100 lbs of rock...adding some more soon to the sump but only 10-15 lbs. in the process of taking out the blue...
