itZme - i've used Uniseals on a couple of occations and EVERY one of them has leaked eventually. IMO, that is NOT a good solution here.

I think this is more of an issue with acrylic tanks rather than glass. Acrylic tanks tend to pull seams apart if you slot it to close to the top bracing. I think you would be fine with doing this...
