You wouldn't need a chiller with a 175w MH. I've got 150w MH + 2x65 PC over my 25G and one 60mm PC fan blowing across the water provides more than enough cooling.

I'd go with MH.

Maybe it's something I'm not aware of, but is there a reason why calcium and alkalinity controllers don't exist?

I would like a system that doses 2-part as it is depleted, not at set intervals....

I've got about the same size tank with a bunch of SPS. I don't run a skimmer, but I large water changes (about 40%) every 2 weeks and run carbon constantly. I have a feeling a skimmer would help me...
