Too much life in my Fallow tank?!?!
My fallow tank is in it's 4th week and I was wondering if there is such thing as to many little critters.
Everywhere I look there are big fat pods crawling around everything, there are hundreds of mysid shrimp swimming around out in the open, none of these little guys are even trying to hide anymore. I even saw a tiny Mantis shrimp hiding in my hairy mushrooms (stomping kind) This one is beige/light brown colored as opposed to my daughter's 1.25" black stomper mantis. There are so many that I don't have to look close up to see them, is this a problem or will the fish be able to get control once re-introduced? |

I figured I would chime in so no else has. IMO you can never have to much life. Depending on what fish you put in, they can desimate a pod population quickly.
I believe you are seeing so many because as you stated, there is nothing for them the fear. So they are all out. I know in my tank I don't see any, however in my fuge they are everywhere running around in the open.

THis kind of life doesn't count in 'fallow' tankdom. Ich won't affect them. Pods don't have much brain, but they have enough to know to hide when there's a wrasse or mandy about. If you value the fish-to-come, however, I'd pass the mantis on to someone who will appreciate him. Perhaps your daughter.
