Auto Top off via kalk reactor system

Trying to figure out the optimum way and products to feed my sump from the fresh water res via the Kalk reactor to the sump, at the same time maintaining the sump level.

Any advice or threads, because there seams a lot of different ways this can be accomplished. The worry I have is not to over dose the Kalk, causing PH swings, but if I use a float switch auto top off, isn't that going to dump fresh kalk in relatively big doses, in a short amount of time, rather than the ideal of small amounts dripped in over longer periods, or is this not going to be an issue.

Thanks MGB

I use a peristaltic pump to dose my limewater as autotopoff. I limit the output of the pump to what the tank can handle. That's the approach I would recommend. People have damaged tanks using limewater topoff with high-flow pumps.

I use a mag 2 with float switches, goes right into the main tank since I don't have a sump. I use a 5G bucket with the kalk and the pump in. I dose 24/7 ph is from 7.9 in the morning to 8.4 at the end of the day. I use 2 tsps per gallon.

I thought I had a Master-Flex tied up last night but lost the bid before it spiked at over $309. Which tubing are you using? There's got to be another pump solution that doesn't cost $300.

Thanks,

Doug

the aqualifter works good too, they are cheap but will need to be replaced every 6 months or so

The L/S pumps are very expensive. I've forgotten which tubing I'm using, but the Norprene is very good. Just look for one that'll handle high pH.
