nano skimmer

well after looking at my options for small hang on back efficient skimmers I decided to build my own for my 30g hex seahorse tank.

The body is 6" tube and is 8" tall, neck is 2.25" and a few inches tall. powered by a MaxiJet 1200 meshwheel, pulling 5lpm of air at just 14w.
cost was nill as i had the scrap acrylic lying around, the mj was a left over from testing out meshwheels, and the fittings were also extras from other projects.

ok well here it is

and here it is already skimming after 30sec of run time
not too shabby for not being broke in yet.

well been running good all night, got a little bit of skimmate so far. thinking about replacing the pump with something that can pull in more air, would like something aroun 8-10lpm. i am thinking i will make an acrylic volute for he MJ 1200, since it has great power, and see what kind of numbers i can get out of it. I do have an H&S pump lying around but it pushed too much water through it so it wouldnt be a good choice, but it does pull 11lpm of air at only 9w, now that's awesome.
