anyone else with freaky "crab-napper" fish?
At first I thought he was eating them, I'm far happier now that I have found he's just a tad sadistic and moving them from wherever they are happily cleaning the tank to wherever he feels like dropping them, but my pink spotted watchman goby will sneak right up on my hermits and just randomly move them all over the reef! I haven't even read of fish with this behavior...anyone else have a fish that does this or do I have the only crab-napper of the species? Fun as it is to watch, I can't help but think of how ticked off those crabs must be thinking "dang, now I gotta get all the way back over there!"

My bicolor blenny seems to really enjoy knocking the hermit crabs off of his rock. He tries to knock the snails off as well and he just freaks if a snail crawls over his favorite hidey hole and he can get in.

yeah, I've seen my bicolor blenny do the same...he's got 2 favorite holes on opposite sides of our reef...he's a riot...I swear we can easily go days without tv...if it weren't for the fact that I can catch up on abc.com I would be lost on grey's anatomy! Those poor crabs and snails must be trekking our tanks chanting "blennies and jawfish and gobies, oh my!"

This is the kind of behavior that makes me want so many gobies and blennies.

My royal gramma will knock off hermit crabs that stray too close to his cave, and he chases off my peppermint shrimp by opening his mouth and charging!

I dont keep any crabs...but my pink spotted watchman does that to snails all the time...he also does it with frags off of my frag rack and takes them home with him. I have pulled more than a couple of LE frags from his doorstep
the way I lift my rocks with acrylic rods he has absolutely zero places to truly hide anywhere as all i have to do is put my eyes down at sand level and I can see 100% of my sandbed.......I think this really ticks him off ![]() he also attacks my 8" chevron and 5" PB whenever hey get near his hole ![]() Last edited by flyyyguy; 11/21/2007 at 04:52 PM. |
