Colt question

Can anyone tell me about a colt coral producing growth inhibitors? I have one in my 55, and am curious...

I saw a posting here somewhere that said that a colt could produce some chemicals that prevent other corals from growing in it's presence. Just wondering if anyone had heard of such a thing.

I have a colt in my tank and all the rest of my leathers are growing rather nicely. Some of which are merely inches from the colt.

Many soft corals contain numerous toxic compounds such as terpenoids and sarcophine that can deter coral growth. It is a natural defense that is used to deter other organisms from eating them, but can also be released to help defend against other approaching corals. Carbon and skimming is the most affective way of removing this from the water column.
