Help, Leather Coral!!

Leather Coral, Help!!
I have a leather coral that is pictured in my gallery. I've had it since I
started my reef-tank four years ago. In the last month or so, I've
noticed white spots appearing on it. Recently, the spots have become
small holes. Could this be happening due to the water flow or
something else? Any advice is welcome. HELP!
Water parameters checked and ok.

Are there any other tank inhabitants picking at the leather coral? Also what other corals do you have? It could be a reaction to allelopathy.

It's reproducing. Those areas will separate and drop from the mother colony. Actually, there may not be a whole lot left of the mother colony after it gets done dropping all the "babies".

Is it sort of rotting?

I had a leather coral start to decay and the only cure is too cut away the dead parts.

If the holes start to get bigger your best bet would be to frag the leather.

I asked this same question a couple months ago and no one had an answer. I determined that the coral is splitting. It is still in the process and you can see two splits off the mother colony nearly fully developed now. Will try to post a pic later.
