I purchased a product called reef bugs. I am wondering who else has tried it and what the out come was. Is there any benefit from the product. It claims it will help with cocepod (don't know how to spell) reproduction. It is also suppose to be a great natural food for some corals. Ant feedback would be helpful. Thanks Thomas

I use it along with cyclopeeze to feed coral. I don't know about the effect on copepod populations, I have a fuge for those guys. Corals seem to like it though (particularly the sun polyps).

It's a Marc Weiss product... I tend to stay away from those.. might be apple juice...
But it may be just a normal food for inverts , like Micro-Vert or Zoo-Plex, or Reef-Roids (which I use) which are two times cheaper.

Yea, I wouldnt use it myself since I am suspicious of all Weiss products...might be harmless though.

I have used it a few times for my polyp-intensive tank and seems to be harmless.
I do have a pretty good cope population in my fuge........never thought of the reef bug impact. So far so good!

I have been using Reef Bugs to feed my Crocea and he seems to be doing very well. I have noticed a big increase in pod population and bristle worms. I have noticed new creatures that are filter feeders kind of hanging in high flow areas of the tank. I do not have years of experiance in reef keeping but I have noticed an improvement in my tank.

I use Reef Bugs in our softie / LPS tank. I can't say that I've noticed any drastic improvement, but at the same time it hasn't hurt anything. I won it at a club meeting, so I didn't have to pay for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't buy it on my own.

The product is very well suited for for LPS and softies. One of the biggest benefits is the increase in pod populations. I just got some from Carolina Reefs (2 weeks ago) and I have already noticed an increase in pods in my fuge (Thats the reason I got them). BTW I know the guy who runs this site an he's a good guy.
This product is similar to the marine snow type products out there. BC |
