regal angel and powder blue tang
Anyone have experience with a PBT and Regal Angel in the same tank? I have a 240 gallon tank and an onery PBT that is close to 6 inches long. I am interested in a Regal Tang I saw at a local fish shop.

I wouldn't add a Regal now..Regals tend to be shy and passive and will never come out of hiding if there is an aggressive PB harassing him.

agreed, I tried to add a Regal to my 210, the PB chased him for 2 solid days. Unfortunately he ( the Regal ) never overcame the stress and I lost him.
Needless to say, the PB has been removed and when the next Regal comes around I will be able to give it a more peaceful enviroment. Good luck with your decision. |

![]() i had mine in a 60gal cube together for about 3 months and they did fine. now that i've upgraded i moved them to a 225 but i think the trick is to add them to a new tank at the same time. or let the regal get adjusted first. (maybe you can QT the pbt for like a week and let the regal get used to the aquarium) once the pbt gets situated you wont be able to add any more tangs or other similar fish unless they are a lot bigger. good luck. |

The PBT is very territorial my advice would be to add him to the tank last. Great looking fish and plenty of personality.

I just added a regal angel to my 300g with a mean PBT in the tank. The angel didn't take any crap from the tang and is doing fine. Think I was just lucky and got an assertive angel.

The only two fish I have in my 110 right now are a PBT and a regal. They get along great together. The PBT got the regal to come out and eat, in a 240 they should have enough room to get away from each other. But regals are VERY shy fish, IMO.

Ohhhhh.....You say Angel in the title but Tang in your post
![]() A Regal Angel should be fine...Your Tang will harrass any new fish at first, thats normal. But most large Angels are tough enough to take it.

I would remove the PBT first and keep it in your QT or fuge while the Regal gets adjusted in your tank and then maybe a month later put the PBT back in your tank.
