advertisment question

several local reefers and I are looking to start an online coralstore and wish to advertise on RC

BUT since we can not yet afford a higher end server or check out is it ok that we plan on using ebay stores or paypal
( i know that RC bans ebay links)

There's several parts to your question and some of which you may have confused, so let me take it in pieces.

Congratulations & good luck! It's not an easy market. Your best friend will be a strong business plan before you sell coral #1.

If you want to become a sponsor of RC (i.e. purchase banner ads), send an email to sponsorinfo@reefcentral.com and someone will respond with some details.

It's your business, you can do whatever you want, it has no bearing or impact on RC. I know that Premium Aquatics, for example, is integrated into PayPal and I use that almost exclusively when I buy from them.

RC does not allow posting of links to active Ebay auctions.

This is where my concern about confusion comes in.
Sponsors of RC buy banner ads, and in some cases a sponsor forum (for product questions/support). Sponsors cannot post advertisement type threads on RC outside their sponsor forum. So you wont see DFS, PA, MD..etc..posting about sales in the general forums...they can't.

So even if your business chooses to become a sponsor on RC, you would not be able to post advertisements (and in turn, links to your site, sales..etc..) in the general forums. A common misunderstanding among members is that sponsors get free reign in advertising on RC and that's just not true. Essentially, they buy banner ads and that's about it.

wasnt sure if the rule for links applied to sites that are linked from RC ( example banner ad)
kinda like i know you wouldent let some one post a banner ad if on the site it leads to they have an ad for say.. porn or somthing like that
