I think I damaged my angels gills.

The fish is acting normal, normal breathing. However it looks like a little of the scales covering the gills have been eaten away? I believe this happened during a long acclimation after a long truck ride. My mistake, I thought it would reduce stress. Could the ammonia have been so high that this happened?

Although I could be wrong...again, and this could be normal.

So the fish didn't appear to have this when you purchased it? Was the fish netted?
Doesn't look like anything too serious, and if the fish is adjusting well to the tank, and not in visible distress, you probably don't have anything to worry about. Is it visible on both sides?

False Leemonpeel's are completely yellows. No white around the gills or blue around the fins and eyes.

Right, I have an actual lemonpeel. So that is normal then, thanks. I had seen a few pics but wanted to be sure.
