glass or acrylic tank
We now have a 30 gal saltwater reef tank and want to upgrade to a bigger tank, at least 75 gal. The 30 gal is glass and we have had no problems with it. Is a acrylic tank harder to keep? We've used razors on our glass tank and I know I won't be able to do this with the acrylic, so how do you remove the tuff stuff?

There are pros and cons to each.
The biggest con for acrylic is the scratches so just that alone I stway away from acylic.. althou its a great material to use for sumps.

like stated.. pros and cons to each. You can look into that and decide for yourself..I personally use glass. You can clean acrylic with a plastic card. Credit Card, ID, Hotel Key that you used in high school..etc works really well.

usually ppl use acrylic for tanks more than 180 gal. due to weight for a 75 gal. glass will work fine.

As scratched up as my glass tanks are I couldn't imagine how they'd look if they were acrylic.

Glass all the way. Unless you are diligent in removing coralline, acrylic can be a pain in the you know what.

Glass:
Pros: Widely available. Doesn't scratch as easy. Cheaper. Cons: Heavier. Not as clear as acrylic. Acrylic: Pros: Very clear. Much lighter than glass. Cons: Very prone to scratches. (some can be buffed out) More expensive than glass. Some angles are distorted when viewing. Just my opinion.
