to the mods,why cant i search

since ive been on this site almost 3 months now,i have never once been able to use the search option.i see alot of people giving other people flack about not useing the search feature on here.but how can they search if it never allows you to?there has been numerous times that i was sure the question i wanted to ask was already asked,but of course i couldnt do a search so i had to ask it,then you get the "why dont you use the search feature first,this has been discussed before"it would be nice not to have to ask if you know the answer is already there,(if you could search for it).
