ipod update 1.2.3 problems?

I was talking to someone about ipods and they said dont get the update 1.2.3 as it caused problems with his ipod. I am wondering what other people think because I am a believer in keeping things up-to-date, and would like to do so, but have been holding off because of his advice. If it helps I have on of the older ipod videos (30GB)

I think he's talking about firmware for iPod touch. Except current firmware for iPod touch is 1.1.2, same as iPhone's. FW 1.1.3 is due out soon which will break the 1.1.2 jailbreak.
