I have a DIY T5 light question

A local store to me has under counter version T5 light. They have a 2 foot 2 bulb for 19.98 and they have a 4 foot 2 bulb for 29.98. can I not just buy t5 bulbs and put into these housings. The are the HO version. If so the custom hood for my 55 with PC lighting will get a revamp.

As long as its T5 and the correct wattage then yes you could.

The only issue I see is that the sockets are probably not waterproof but for the money you could tear it apart later and wire the ballast to some waterproof endcaps, ala cheap Retro.

With that fixture and a couple sets of endcaps your looking at the price of just a ballast alone.

A retro kit before bulbs is about $100

If your handy with electrical than go for it I would.
