I just got it set up with sand and rock... Water quality just hit perfect so about a week ago I added two emerald crabs, two porcelain crabs, a blood shrimp, hermits & several nassarius snails. I'm doing a tank merge from the two other tanks I have - the IM 40, and a generic 20 that I had to set up in an emergency and never took down...smh..

I just pulled two rose bta's from the 40 and plan on taking two clowns from the 20 to their new home. Not sure what other fish I'll put in the 80 yet. Currently looking at sand sifting gobies, but haven't decided on what two I want.

Also still have to decide on lights in the next few days. I have a G3 pro Radion on the 40. Love the light. I've gotten very good growth from it, just do not like the price tag and on this tank I'll probably need two. My lfs is recommending AI hydra's, but I need to do some comparison between those and the radion's so I know I'm not missing features that I really love and would greatly miss if I went with a different lighting system.

So yeah, I'm sure there must be others in our world wide community that own a IM 80. I'll have to look into how to create a place for us to all link up on here.

If you are planning a mix reef, I would use the Kessil AP 700. I'm using the AI 26 on my 40. Its a good light, kinda wish I would went either Kessil or Radions.

What stand did you get? hope the APS. Have that stand for my 40, and love it.

Congrats, if you start a build let me know.

Yes, I did get the APS stand with the tank and love it. I'm going to upgrade the stand on the 40 at some point. When I bought that tank, I ended up buying a cabinet from habitat for humanity and tossing a piece of lacquered African wood on top. Structurally sound, but not as nice looking as the APS stands.

Thanks for the feedback on the light, I appreciate it. It's such a large expense and for that reason among others, it requires research and feedback.

Few shots since I promised them a week ago. Battling a little algae and still recovering some corals from the hurricane. Almost lost the jack-o-lantern but it's coming back nice. New goby is keeping the sand clean and all are doing well. Just have to keep fighting the damn algae off since I wasnt as diligent as I needed to be on maintenance for a few months. Love this tank though. We stare at it every day.

Before and after feeding the acan. Other shot you can see all the baby serpent stars legs sticking out grabbing for food. They have really taken off as well.

Howdy everybody, I thought I'd jump in and say hi. I ordered a Nano 40 a week or so ago from BRS and it showed up this last week so I thought I'd jump in and build a stand for it.

(in progress)

Just put the first coat of Poly on it and the 2nd coat of white gloss paint on the inside. The door is going to be something special. It's drying right now, I hope to have it all finished tomorrow.

I have 40 lbs of Caribsea Life Rock in a Brute container right now. I've been dosing Microbacter7 the last few days and shot some Dr Tim's ammonia in there yesterday. Trying to to jump start the cycle. I'm going slow for the first 30 days. I've learned my lessons in the past.

I'm reading this whole thread, I'm only up to page 11 so far, but this is a great resource!

Thanks

Sjeff35; Yes, I went through that debate myself, and end up with AI 26. Now I wish I went Radion, it seems to be alot more user friendly.

Like Aquascape!

Thanks,

Which Radion were you looking at? The 15 or the 30?

I have always wanted a Kessil. Love the shimmer. I don't plan on having any SPS, this will be a LPS/softie tank.

Its been about a year since I was going through this, I think the 15? ( my budget at the time). I think thats why the AI won out, more light better price. But I really like the way Ecotech works lights and pumps. But if Im spending 700 for the 30, I might now consider the AP700?

If I remember correctly our tanks would require 2 360's or 2 15's to get the right coverage? Also remember the 360's require a seperate controller.

Good luck with this? I'm sure there are 1000 different opinions on this as well.

Thanks!

The stand was just something I came up with over the last few weeks. I'm really happy with the way it came out. I made a few mistakes on it, but the next will will be even better

Hi all,

I did some searching in the thread about fans and cooling, but can't seem to find any pictures on how to mount a cooling fan. Does anyone have any ideas?

I saw @OsiViper's cool fan cover, but that's all I could find.

Thanks

So Recently I had some issues with both my Ghost Skimmer, and Reactor. My pump broke at the base of skimmer body. I contacted Paul at IM sent him pictures and other data need for a waranty claim. My was declined since the receipt was a little over a year. But Paul stepped in and got me a new skimmer body, and pump for just shipping. I then found out through IM that the cap on my reactor was defective. He is sending new cap out soon.

Great customer service from IM...

Sorry missed this, But I haven't seen the need for one on our tanks.. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Idea add something to stand that will allow you to add one?

Just ordered a wave link, went with the 1500. I already am running on MP10, so hopefully this one will help with dead spots.
