Question Modern Sponge Info Needed

I was in a lfs today and saw what is called a blue modern sponge. It doesn't look like the traditional sponges I have seen. These look like leather strips of ruffles across the rock. The lfs did know anything about them. They pulled the rock almost to the surface so I could touch it. It felt just like a leather coral, maybe even alittle tougher. I have not been able to find any pics of it on the internet. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this sponge?
