biocube 29

I was wondering what the best way to modify the sump on my biocube is. I have removed the bioballs and replaced with lr rubble but my water clarity is horrible. Doesnt seem to be working like I had planned.

my 29 is crystal clear- but it took about 2 weeks to get there.

I did put a aquac remora with a maxijet 1200 on the back.

I also upgraded the main pump to a maxijet 1200.

Definitely add poly fiber strip to the top of your tray...that goes a huge way with getting better water quality, also try a purigen bag either in chamber 1 or 3 (with the pump).

Also, if you do not want to rinse your live rock rubble every 1-2 months (which can be a hassle) use the polyfiber strip ontop of the tray....I checked my live rock rubble after 4 months and there was barely any debris on it, it was clean...definitely attribute to the polyfiber.

You need to use some media.

I have filter floss in the top grate on the middle chamber, this filters all of the crap ( Change it every 3 to 4 days ). In the middle chamber I use a Micro Bag with PURA-COMPLETE...its a media that traps Nitrates, Kinda like Carbon, BUT only needs to be changed out every 3 to 4 months. Carbon needs to changed around 2 to 3 weeks

In the Left chamber with the return pump, I have a Micro Bag with PURA-PhosLock. Its a Phosphate remover.

Very simple & the water is Crystal Clear
