Where in the Philippines will you be going? There's a lot of rgeat diving spots there, since the whole country is surrounded by coral reefs. Batangas, Bicol, and Cebu are some of the great dive spots.

I suggest take time to go to Boracay. Hire a small motor boat to take you behind the island. You will be in reef heaven. Thick purple stags (1.5 inches in diameter) in crystal blue water that is about 5-6 ft deep. Thousands of giant chromis eat food off your fingers. Not to mention fine (sugar grain) white beach sand. I was there 8 years ago. I plan on going back soon. Don't miss this destination.

The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
