How does everyone get the circle shape of the Chalices??? Do you leave them on the frag disks and they will just grow out??? Or take it off the disk and leave on the sandbed??? Do they grow their own skeleton??

A lot seems to depend on the chalice itself and what it's growth pattern is. Most of mine grow fairly circular or sometimes they conform to the rock they are mounted on.

Mine go circular on frag disks best. I think the hard, flat surface helps keep the chalice flat as it grow out, and the circular shape just occurs naturally.

Here is my latest, I really like this guy.
So is this guy ready to frag yet? I'd like to do some swaps if he is... (can someone point me to a thread that shows how to frag these?)

And he came from this wee bitty guy.

EDIT:
I think mine came attached to a small rock, and I just placed it on the sand and let it grow making sure no other objects were in its space.

Jotade, they are really easy to frag. Get yourself a dremel w/ a diamond wheel and just start cutting. Don't go to small w/ the frags as you may lose some.

Put them in some light current to keep the mucous moving off the newly cut frags and you are in business.

All of your new growth will be pretty thin and easy to cut but the center will be a bit tougher.

Nice challice by the way, me likes it.

Hey JotaDe, your chalice makes me want to eat a burrito!

The Beaut, I have a piece of coral that looks exactly like that, but mine was sold to me as an Oxypora. Do Oxypora look just like chalice or are they the same thing?
