In the sump of a H/O filter?

I converted an aqua clear 110 into a hob refuge and put a corallife mini light on it..

yes i have a penguin 350 which is a double wheel bio wheel filter and removed the biowheels and in the sump i place chaeto it has a 17 watt flourescent strip on it. just not too convinced will this work? will the chaeto grow/survive? how did that aqua clear conversion work out for you?

It worked great. I ran the light reverse of my tanks light cycle. I dont see any problems why it should work, well "on paper" that is..

Sure no problem, just put some gutter guard across the outpot of the filter to stop the cheato from getting out
