Hi Clownreef,

I used the biotherm heating element in conjuction with my Ranco controller. I liked it for a few months but even the titanium heating elements will rust. That is the one reason I dumped mine and had to replace with a stupid Ehiem Jager heater. If they are left in the water long term the corrosion can lead to some serious problems including electrocution!!!

as far as the best heater out there, I myself have not found it yet. They all have there issues. Won Pros heats can cook your fish, Ehiem ebo jagers can stick on, thats why I use them with the Ranco. And of course the Hydor Theo heater. So light it floats on the surface of the water! LOL!!! Why would a manufacturer design a heater and allow it to float!!!!!!! Your best bet is to use a Ranco controller and a Jager heater to heat your tank. Sometimes in this industry you have to do a lot of research and improvise.
