Is this how my skimmer should look?

It's been 3 days since I started using it. Not sure if I'm doing things right since this is my first skimmer.

Thanks. Is wet skim better than dry skim?

If the color of your skimmate is really light then you are probably skimming too wet meaning you are mainly collecting foam that breaks into water. If you can pull out dark and smelly stuff then you are skimming on the dry side meaning you are pulling organic waste from the water.
What do you have in your tank? What kind of skimmer is that?
This is about 3 days worth of skimmate from my 28g nanocube:

It's an Octopus Xtreme 150. I have a clown and a Yellow Tang and an anemone.

How should I do a drier skimming.

Adjust the flow/height of the water in the skimmer

If the skimmer is brand new then i would assume it is still breaking in. So in a few weeks you should get some nice skim.

Did you wash skimmer before you set it up. I wash mine in vinegar before i set up a new skimmer to get all the oils out

Exactly kdblove, 3 days, it looks pretty good. Give it another week or so and then repost.

OK. I'll give it more time.

I did rinse it vinegar then soaked in water before putting in the tank.

Im thinking of buying an Octo extreme 200 for my 210g tank. how do you like your skimmer so far? is it true that the extreme ocoto's are also recirculating ?

Not only that, but he's only got 2 fish and an anenome in the tank so his bioload is probably pretty light...
