Can you get AEFW or Red Bugs from a Clam?

Hi guys,

I was wondering about the quarantine of clams with my sps and clam dominated tank. I will quarantine all incoming sps corals. I haven;t been able to find much about the quarantine of clams. If a clam is in a tank that has red bugs or AEFW's, is it possible they could get in on one of them?

i introduced ick through a single turbo snail from petco.

if a red bug or flat worm just happen to be moving around the tank and end up on the clam at the time of purchase, then it could certainly be transfered into your tank. basically, if the tank contains corals that are contaminated, then EVERYTHING in the tank is potentially contaminated.

You can get them through eggs so if the eggs are on the clam then yes. I would say better safe than sorry.
