Has anybody read about this?? COULD IT BE TRUE? A FELLOW REEFER GONE BAD!

I copied it as it appeared. And I don't know if I'm breaking any rules by posting this? So forgive me if I am.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It appears that in Feb 2004 Eric Borneman an "Aqua Guru" submitted an
application to house and grow colonial lines of protected stony corals
from the florida reefs.

It appears that Eric had intentions of growing them and propagating
them for financial gain.

It appears that Eric housed the corals and such in his home and in Reef
Savers a commerical coral business.

It appears Eric took corals that were slated for transplantation by the
Navy and went out side of his collecting permit.

It appears that Eric did not care properly for the corals and instead
went on many trips while he knew the corals were in jeopardy.

It appears that the US government had to DEMAND that Eric return the
corals and did not give them back after several requests.

It appears that Eric may have mixed the Atlantic corals with Pacific
corals thus dooming them to a life of captivity and making them
unsuitable for eventual transplantation into the wild.

I believe it is time for answers. These are the property of the USA.
Thus it directly affects you and our future hobby.
I believe it is essential we all discuss this situation. It's
repercussions for our hobby are unfathomable!

As such I have released all restrictions and opened the boards to all
registered members for discussion of this topic-yes it is that
important!

It is time for answers. Did these things really happen? Where is Eric
to tell us what truly happened? Is this the travesty that it really
seems?

Eric where are you?

Can someone please provide information?

It's interesting that I received an email from Reef Aquarium Guide with the EXACT same content as what was originally posted here. The email was in regards to a new thread that was to 'discuss' Eric B and the implications made.

And I would like to add that the creator of the site (Sara @ www.opportunitylost.org) claims that the site was created to find out if 'any good came of the project' but if you look, you will find nothing about the conclusion of the project or even a hint of it's success or failure. The only thing presented at that site is information debasing Eric B's character. A site created with a personal vendetta intending to slight Eric B - who by the way will be speaking at this years International Marine Aquarium Conference in Chicago.

A matter which was settled two years ago... time to let it go guys.

Well, but I had never heard it before, and am very glad to read it and then read the other posts: if such things are continually floating the internet, best they appear where rebuttal is available, so there is a constantly replenished pool of informed people who can rein it in. One of the problems of the internet is the eternal halflife of bad information, and as a friend of mine wrote in a novel, the only way to stop it is to chase it with better information.
